Community Guidelines

1. We’re built on trust and respect. To maintain a safe and welcoming community, please be respectful and kind in all your interactions. Be clear when communicating and assume positive intent. We will not tolerate any harassment, negativity, abuse, or misrepresentation on the platform.

2. Only sell your best stuff. Sell unto others what you yourself would want to buy. This means list only your highest quality items on Project Preloved. Please do not list any tattered or stained clothes that may be preloved but not suitable to pass onto others.

3. Moms love bundles! Note that the minimum price for a listing is $5. We recommend bundling like items (e.g., swim trunks with goggles, pairs of pajamas, etc.) for quicker sales and to save moms time.

4. Sales are as-is and final. All sales are final without refunds. Please contact us at projectprelovedop@gmail.com if you believe an item was misrepresented on the listing.

Are there any fees?

Fees are the worst, we know. 😪 We unfortunately have to charge fees to keep the platform running and to improve our service. The good news is that it’s free to join, buy, and list items. And say goodbye to shipping fees you’d have to pay through apps with our hyperlocalized marketplace.

For sellers, Project Preloved will automatically deduct a 20% fee from the final price of every sold listing, keeping fees less than other in-store consignment options (which are usually around 40%) and in line with other online platforms. Note that a portion of proceeds will be donated to a local Oak Park organization each month. Our sincerest hope is to revisit the fee structure in the very near future if Project Preloved grows.

How should I price my items?

Well-priced items sell quickly! Follow these pricing guidelines to help maximize your sales:

• Everyday Brands (e.g., Honest Baby, Cat & Jack, Carter's, Gerber, Osh Kosh, Old Navy) - Price at 20% of original retail value.

• Namebrand Brands (e.g., Zara, H&M, Nike, Adidas, Gap, Columbia) - Price at 25% of original retail value.

• Premium Brands (e.g., Patagonia, Crew Cuts, Mini Boden, North Face, Hanna Andersson, Janie and Jack, Rylee & Cru, Tea Collection, Kyte Baby) - Price at 30-35% of original retail value.

Pro Tip: If you're looking for a swift sale, adjust the price a bit lower and share your listing on social channels (such as Oak Park Moms Resale) for double the exposure.

If your item is valued at less than $5.00, consider bundling similar items or outfits. Moms love a deal!

Tips for Great Photos

Help your items stand out by following these tips:

1. Simple Background: Use a clean, clutter-free background. A plain white or neutral-colored background works best.

2. Lighting: Use natural light whenever possible. Shoot near a window to avoid harsh shadows.

3. Fill the Frame: Make sure the item takes up most of the frame without cropping out any parts.

4. Highlight Features: Capture close-ups of important features, tags, stains, etc.

5. Clean & Presentable: Make sure the item is clean and presented well. Iron clothes, polish shoes, and dust off furniture before photographing.
